Not such good news! There was a fall of 6 varroa mites since yesterday. I checked with a magnifying glass to make sure it was not just hive debris. I will dust the bees in the frames with icing sugar at the weekend when I do my first inspection for disease, queen activity and brood development. The local woodpecker was in the sycamore tree at the end of the garden making a lot of noise. I shall have to watch him. There are plenty of caterpillars about at the moment but when food gets short I will may need to put mesh on the hive to keep him out.
